VM Provisioning Failure Due to Dual Gateways

VM Provisioning Failure Due to Dual Gateways

[Keywords]: VM provisioning and login failure

[Applicable Version]: All FusionAccess versions

[Symptom]:

During VM provisioning, VMs were stuck at the operation of being added to a domain.

[Analysis]:

Log in to a VM using virtual network controller (VNC) and run the ipconfig /all command. Twos gateways were found on the VM. The inter-segment communication between the VM and the domain could not be implemented through two gateways.

[Solution]:

  1. Disable a VM network interface card (NIC).

  • When provisioning a VM, you are not advised to select two NICs whose IP addresses are allocated by the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP). If you do so, dual gateways may occur. Dual gateways will result in abnormal communication between the VM and a domain.
  • If a VM fails to be added to a domain, on FusionCompute, log in to the VM using VNC and check whether the IP address, subnet mask, gateway, and domain name server (DNS) are correctly configured and whether the domain name can be pinged.
